My favorite photo from the past week of posting on Google+ is a high contrast black and white image with a long exposure, creating the streams of light that represent the movement of cars in the dark night, a visual metaphor of the dynamic nature of the city...

New Blog Series: Photo a Day... (Google+)
Greetings from Lauren! (M of MYD)
I'm looking forward to introducing a new daily series here at Architect | MYD Blog...
We've written about social media a few times, and I'm back with a related topic...
Since our last update, Architect | MYD on Google+ is doing great, and we've been posting varying content not found on our website or facebook page.. So, I've been more active on Google+ lately, and though my activity is centered around design, the images and links shared there are also different from those posted here or on our MYD studio website.
On G+, my main focus is photography, which is the art that led me to study architecture to begin with...
Since I post a photo on a regular basis at my profile, I thought why not share it here, as well? I know there are still many readers who haven't jumped on the G+ train so readily, so time to bring it to you!
Also, for those who are friends on G+, I don't often give commentary or very explanatory titles, so this is a forum where I can share a bit more detail on any noteworthy items related to the photo.
I'll still, of course, going post MYD studio updates, though they are often more thorough at our site's blog, to which you can subscribe via feedburner, email or an RSS feed.
Also, I'd truly appreciate feedback; so feel free to share any thoughts on this new concept....
So, starting today, here's the image for 06.20.12:
A very large Whole Foods recently opened a few weeks ago. The design of the space used reclaimed wood and sustainable materials and was very well designed and executed. However, no images of those details are here today; I was sharing this one for #windowwedneday, a popular Google+ Photography theme. More to come, though!
Cheers, Lauren

New Home Construction, Orange County, CA
Hello from MYD... We're back with a construction progress update for a currently ongoing project- a contemporary single family custom home in Fullerton, California. After breaking ground a while back, we shared a post on the grading at the site, highlighting images of the newly-poured foundation at this unique lot with expansive views, maximized by the orientation and layout of the floor plan design.
With the concrete set and construction moving along, most, if not all, of the first floor framing is completed at this stage.
The photos below were taken about a week or so ago; the framing is moving upstairs and we plan to have further progress updates in the very near future! Until then, stop by our website to view plans and renderings of the design, and check back soon, as we'll be posting updated construction photos as work progresses.

Vivid Sydney 2012 at the Opera House
In previous posts, we've looked at the Sydney Opera House (one of the Buildings We Love), and well as several examples of architectural projection.
This past week, the two have merged to create a stunning visual display at the intersection of art, architecture and technology for Vivid LIVE 2012 at the Sydney Opera House. Part of a city-wide event, Vivid Sydney, this specific project, 'Lighting the Sails' by German design collective URBANSCREEN, will be on display from May 25th through June 11th at the iconic building.
Now in its 4th year, the projections and light installations for the event have become increasingly sophisticated and dynamic, and 'Lighting the Sails' exemplifies this through an intriguing performance that explores the relationships between scale, space, light and form.
Enjoy the show!
As a stage for digital facade abstractions that challenge our perceptions of reality, materiality and form, this projection exemplifies a unique type of performance art in the way the human body interacts with architecture, creating a visual space that truly examines the 'iconic sculptural form of the Opera House (as well as) a place as a home for music, dance and drama'.
This concept is heightened as that exploration comes full circle, as the sails flutter, undulate, and ultimately crumple like paper into the night darkness.
Find more about ongoing works at the Opera House here, and for more information on the annual event and other installations throughout the city, visit Vivid Sydney online and to check out other URBANSCREEN projects, make sure to stop by their website.
